Aloha Students and Parents,

Here are some of the upcoming events for the rest of August:

Events for August:

1).     Monday -   August 18, 2008 - No School  (Teacher's Professional Development Day)

2).     Wednesday -  August 20, 2008 - Open House

3).     Wednesday - August 27, 2008 - RAP Night

Open House:   I look forward to seeing you all at Open House this Wednesday, August 20th.  Open House begins with Orientation in the school cafeteria for parents.  It begins at 5:00 pm.  After the orientation, come on down to our class (J105) and see our classroom happenings! 

RAP NIGHT:   It looks to be another great year of RAP.  Please take advantage of RAP Night where families can listen to some awesome storytelling and even participate in the fun activities.  The first session begins on Wednesday, August 27th beginning at 5:30 pm in the school cafeteria.

WHAT'S HAPPENING IN THE CLASSROOM: In class we are working on our Nanakuli project.  Take a look at the students below engaged in their learning as they work cooperatively in groups.  They choose a recorder to write down their answers and at the end they come up in front of the classroom to share their responses.

We have a routine to follow each day as they prepare for their spelling test.

Day 1 -   Write each work in their spelling book (classwork) and write each word 5x's for (homework). Study Spelling Words

Day 2 -   Put the words in ABC order and in syllables;  Study Spelling Words

Day 3 -  Dictionary skills  (Write the word; parts of speech; meaning of word; and sentence);  Study Spelling Words

Day 4 -  Continue Dictionary skills  (complete); Study Spelling Words

Day 5 -   Spelling Test today
